Why Chris Moore
Chris Moore is an Interactive Music and Comedy Specialist with 30 years experience since his band Pop Mechanix was the biggest crowd draw throughout New Zealand. Beginning solo public appearances at age 12, he fronted school concerts and productions, paying university fees with a 3 piece band, then was caught up in the wirlwind rise to fame of Christchurch band Splash Alley/Pop Mechanix.
After touring throughout New Zealand, gaining record company support, and managed by NZ music guru Mike Chunn, they stole the show at Sweetwaters 1981 and moved to Australia, under the Frontier Touring Company management of Michael Chugg. Most of their shows were in support of major Australian and international acts, touring extensively and performing 5 nights a week.
Chris eventually returned to the South Island taking advantage of the new "adventure tourism" boom and establishing himself from the cities to the snow resorts as a high energy solo performer.
His combination of skill as a musician and natural abilities as an entertainer have provided fun ever since. Well known for getting people dancing from the first song to last, or delivering thoughtful and humourous topical soliloquies to musical backing, Chris has an almost visionary sensitivity, able to inspire an audience from well dressed formality through various stages of letting their hair down, with all the songs that affect all ages in the same timeless way, either with cool and subtle sophistication, or incredible energy. Tongue in cheek or just plain cheeky at times, weaving spontaneity with experience, observation with total attention, humour with decorum, he has been personally responsible for the success of hundreds of events.
After a stint as Australasian Performing Rights Association representative in the South Island, Chris tired of hotel shows and began street performing. Re-discovered by the late Kevin Lynch a.k.a. Len the Loser, and urged to take his skills into the corporate world, he recast his off-the-cuff style, passion with musical history, and talent for changing the state of a crowd, into an interactive musical history tour called "Come Together", a unique showcase of music, comedy and interactivity.
