| LIFE IS GOOD - Matt Gunn was chanting "life is good" at Em & Matt’s first bridge party, while Marty slapped the Drums. Blind Tone was bending harp & I had tears in my eyes. A fire by a lagoon with lights in the trees & 1500 watts of Bose sound. On Greenstone Island there are not many people so a good party needs different fun things like drums & firesticks & especially everybody singing or chanting together which creates a spirit of common unity or community spirit.

| QUEENSTOWN - written for Nicola. One of the meeting points of the force fields of the future, is on the Island of Greenstone. Keep believing. Queenstown is an illusion, whatever you want it to be. Only the surroundings are real. The competitive mind tries to supplant the creative mind. For a generation too cool to relax we give you adrenaline. | | FEEL - most of the time our awareness is on our mind & we don’t really see what's around us. The trick is to be aware that all is part of us, & not to have expectations, based on bad memories, cluttering our view.
It’s a protected world these are projected plans we’re all selected pearls resting in the best of hands and we’re all moving on and we’re all outstanding on the road to the end of a long lonely time yes its just a matter of time & time is just a moment that falls into nothing we can find so nothing really matters at all Live & let live Give & let give Love & let love just get on with it | | SUKIYAKI - I have always loved this song, & in Japan I asked my friend Masaru Hasagawa to explain the meaning of the words, & this is the translation we came up with. Nicola Lindsay sings it. Nicola has been singing around Queenstown for many years. When I first went to Queenstown to play I was surprised by the friendliness of the other musicians & I was real pleased to see Nicola again in Glenorchy. She now has a CD "SILVER"
| | DART RIVER - written for Irene. Fiordland is stunning with incredibly steep mountain faces, unchanged native bush & wild rivers cascading over rocks, & falling over faces into the sea. Out of these mountains on the eastern side, flows the DART RIVER & a constant flow of inspiration comes with it. Dart River Jet Safaris run powerful jet boats up the Dart, taking people from all over the world into the heart of the wilderness. There are a few stops on the way past Paradise, then as far up the river as safety allows. On the way back you can FUNYAK the upper river in an inflatable canoe, in peace, & /or speed jet.
| | SO I AM - apparently so is the sound of our inward breath. Om is the sound of our outward breath & Amen has derived from this. This is a meditation. When we’ve been told to please ourselves it’s been mostly as a negative response, so we please ourselves out of rebellion rather than with wisdom.
| NORTH & SOUTH - Greenstone islands’ nearest neighbor is the Island of the Big Fish. The people from the Big Fish Island take the remote & beautiful Greenstone Island for granted, regarding it as a beautiful, if somewhat slow & backward, backyard. Greenstone island keeps its end up by being the best destination, the biggest earner of export dollars, & the provider of electricity, however the Big Fish remains protected by its illusion of superiority, justifying withdrawal of resources on a population basis. Anybody can survive in the big city. Try going wild. | EVERLYN - Arnie van Bussel has been recording around Christchurch for 20 years in a recording studio called Nightshift where my CD’s were recorded. He plays all instruments on this song except Dean’s one guitar track. Arnie sang 4 times then the rest of us come in over the top. Chanting is a way of directing our mind, calming it of the need for new data, and awakening it the joy of doing one thing, with awareness, right now. Food is important, as the poison in our food becomes poison in our thoughts, uselessly distracting us from the constant miracles we miss.
| | HEAVEN - the worst thing about religions is telling you they’re right & you’ve been lead astray, however it’s clear to me that all the saints prophets, avatars, Jesus, Buddha, The Bahai & even Merlin the wizard all offered some new philosophy to the world & therefore changed the future. As we all can. Will played the Digeridoo so well that I changed state listening to the howling past. The microphone was right inside & the eerie sound drifted across the rolling hills, staying close to the ground. The full moon & the earth itself were releasing light & Scratcher & I jammed until the day & the rain finally arrived.
